The voice of the customer

“PageUp’s Learning and Performance modules allow our managers to have more regular and effective performance conversations with employees. That’s because every discussion around performance has the opportunity to turn into a development discussion and they can track any conversation they’re having at any time in their performance reviews.”

Jennifer Benson, Coordinator of Online Professional Development, Tarrant County College District

What wasn’t working

Tarrant County College District in Texas, US, is a fast-growing higher education institution with a mission to provide affordable, accessible and high quality teaching and learning to a diverse cohort of learners. Supported by over 5,000 employees, they offer real-world learning experiences that address societal needs.

The college wanted to provide the same better-than-textbook learning experiences for their employees as well as their students. But they faced significant challenges:

  • Their existing the software couldn’t meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements (and the contract was ending anyway);
  • There was no way to connect learning with performance, meaning development conversations happened in silos;
  • They needed a scalable solution to curate eLearning experiences and encourage skills development across 5,000+ employees.

The turning point

Jennifer Benson, Coordinator of Online Professional Development, knew something had to change. The whole team began researching tools that would enable the connection between learning and performance. They wanted a culture of continuous feedback where employees could better understand their contribution to the institution’s goals.

The college sought a smooth, agile system that would support their people’s learning and performance in one place. They partnered with PageUp to transform their learning and development approach.

The shift began in three phases:

  1. Meeting accessibility and compliance needs

    Using PageUp meant all Tarrant County College’s eLearning met the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements, including compliance training.

  2. Scalable, personalisedpersonalized eLearning

    Curating eLearning experiences through personalisedpersonalized recommendations helped the college’s 5,000 staff develop relevant skills at scale.

  3. One platform for performance

    Enabling employees and managers to operate from the same system, tracking conversations and development at any time in their performance reviews.

The solution in action

Using PageUp, Tarrant County College District successfully created a culture of continuous feedback and development, improving efficiency in training delivery and giving managers tools for more regular, more effective performance conversations.

Key initiatives included:

  • Unified learning and performance platform

    Employees and managers operate from the same system, tracking conversations and development seamlessly rather than switching between disconnected tools.

  • Performance conversations that drive development

    Every performance discussion can be turned into a development conversation and tracked in performance reviews, reinforcing the college’s culture of continuous learning.

  • ADA-compliant learning delivery

    Using PageUp to deliver eLearning means all content meets ADA requirements without compromising on efficiency.

  • Seamless content integration

    Integration with Skillsoft and SCORM learning content meant the college could curate eLearning experiences without technical barriers.

  • Rapid reporting for senior leaders

    The platform captures and presents value quickly, significantly reducing the time needed to report progress to senior leadership.
