The voice of the customer
“PageUp’s marketplace integrations have allowed us to have a direct integration with LinkedIn. Our recruiters can post to our internal and external career page and LinkedIn in the same workflow. Recruiters no longer need to login to LinkedIn separately. This saves our recruiters valuable time.”
Kimberly Adams, Senior Business Analyst, State of Arizona Department of Administration
What wasn’t working
The State of Arizona, Arizona Department of Administration has 108 unique agencies and more than 36,000 employees, making it the second largest employer in Arizona. The organisationorganization receives more than 375,000 applicants annually across a wide range of roles.
Even before the pandemic, the state was trialling flexible working practices, with some agencies offering hybrid models and others moving to permanent remote solutions. This digital shift created new challenges:
- No integrated system to manage hundreds of thousands of applications effectively.
- Recruiters needed to pivot to virtual screening, interviewing and hiring processes.
- Inclusive, accessible application processes were manual, requiring physical workstations with staff support throughout the state.
The turning point
Kimberly Adams and the team knew they needed a system that could handle the sheer volume and diversity of their roles, as well as attract great talent and deliver an exceptional digital recruitment experience from end-to-end. Whatever they chose also needed to facilitate remote and hybrid working processes in line with their talent strategy.
They partnered with PageUp to implement talent tech that would support remote and hybrid working as well as manage applications at scale.
The shift began in three phases:
-
Streamlining systems
Using PageUp’s highly customisablecustomizable ATS allowed the team to support all 108 agencies with their end-to-end recruitment on one integrated system.
-
Enabling digital recruitment
Marketplace integrations with LinkedIn and virtual screening and interview tools meant recruiters could hire digitally without extra manual work.
-
Engaging new hires before day one
Onboarding automation flows enabled the state to connect new starters to their new role between offer and start date, especially critical for remote employees.
The solution in action
By implementing PageUp’s people-centred, AI-powered platform, the State of Arizona advanced remote and hybrid working and manage applications at scale.
Key initiatives included:
-
Direct LinkedIn integration
Recruiters post to internal and external career pages and LinkedIn in one workflow, eliminating the need to export resumes manually from LinkedIn.
-
Built-in resume viewer
Hiring managers and recruiters view resumes from web browsers without needing matching software versions, saving the team calls to IT calls and software licensing costs.
-
Accessible, inclusive online applications
The PageUp job board accessibility features allow visually impaired applicants to apply easily online, eliminating the need for staff to assist applicants in-person in State offices.
-
Automated onboarding communication
Welcome messages and next-step instructions engage candidates between offer and start date at the critical stage where they might accept offers elsewhere.
-
CustomisedCustomized new hire experiences
PersonalisedPersonalized onboarding for both remote employees (device access, first-day setup) and in-person hires (parking, office location, workstation details) to help new hires feel supported from day one.
